In this episode Alex and Tyler travel down to the Meso-American Reef, the second longest barrier coral reef system in the world that stretches for over 1,000 km off the coasts of Mexico, Belize, Guatemala and Honduras. This reef is known as the jewel of the Caribbean and attracts an incredible diversity of life from tiny seahorses and colorful nudibranchs to the largest fish in the sea, the Whale Shark. However, 80% of the coral cover across the entire Caribbean has disappeared in the last 30 years. Why is this happening and what can be done to end the destruction? The Water Brothers are determined to see how both locals and tourists can play important roles in protecting reefs all around the world.
